The Highlands and Cashiers areas in North Carolina are well known for their high end real estate and upscale living.  But they are also areas of very generous residents who welcome the opportunity to help others.

One of the newest programs to the area is the Free Dental Clinic in Cashiers, NC.  It offers dental services to those with no dental insurance and an income of less than two times the poverty level. 

The facility opened in 2005 and is equipped with an x-ray room and development facilities, laboratory, and sterilization area along with the office and reception areas.  Employed are a full time executive director, part time hygienist and dental assistants supported by the Highlands-Cashiers communities.  In just 3 years it has provided 1050 patients with more than 10,000 dental procedures.  And with over 600 people still on the waiting list for their services, the clinic is certainly a welcome addition to the Highlands and Cashiers communities.
